Scrabble for Literacy
The Queen's Students for Literacy are running a Scrabble Night at Minotaur to raise money for literacy programs on Thursday, March 4, starting at 7pm. Admission is $5 per game and $10 for the tournament. There will be prizes. Come support a most worthy cause and show off your mad scrabble skills!
KingCon Website & request for submissions
Another way to get information about KingCon is to go directly to www.kingcon.ca. I encourage any and all suggestions, comments & ideas.
We are also looking for people to run games. The three stores involved will be running tournaments and gaming sessions, but having individuals come and run games, will make the con that much more interesting! There are few if any limits on what you can run as a game. Board gaming, role playing, CCG's, card games, table top minis, etc. are obvious choices, but we are very open to other ideas. For example a local club will be running a couple of table hockey tournaments.
We even are happy to consider things that aren't games as long as they fit: mini's painting workshops, comic jamming, chainmail design, what ever brilliant ideas you can come up with!
So, let us know if you are interested in running something, by posting on this blog, the KingCon website or by emailing or dropping into 4-Colour/8-Bit, Minotaur or Nexus and letting us know!

Happy New Year! Game sale!
January and the cold heart of winter are here! We've gone through our store copies and sorted out a bunch to sell off cheap - stuff that we can't get any more and a few that just don't get played as often as they deserve. There are also few shrink-wrapped games in our sale section.
Just in at Minotaur - a variety of new greeting cards, Heroscape Master Set 3: D&D Batle for the Underdark, 2 D&D 4th edition RPG books: Underdark and Players Handbook Suppliment: Races - Dragonborn.
And coming Friday: Z-man's new board game: Dungeon Lords.

Origami Holiday Card Workshop
Minotaur will be hosting another of Bonnie Beals popular origami workshops. This one will feature the making of Holiday Cards using origami techniques.
When: Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 2-4pm
Cost: $5 a card
This workshop was extremely popular last year. Sign up soon to insure a space. You can sign up at Minotaur or respond here if you can't make in prior to the event.
Samples of the kinds of cards you will make are also on display at Minotaur and sell for $10 each (so the origami workshop is a good deal).
